NAME Web Site
A community site for museum exhibition professionals
A community site for museum exhibition professionals
The National Association for Museum Exhibition is a committee dedicated to advancing the value and relevance of exhibitions. As part of the American Association of Museums, NAME seeks to promote exhibition excellence and best practices and identify trends and recent innovations in exhibit design, as well as provide access to professional resources and cultivate leadership for museum professionals. When building a website, NAME needed a site rich in socially connections site that allowed visitors to easily access professional resources and relevant information.
Ideum’s design blends a clean aesthetic and intuitive navigation to allow visitors to the site to easily find information on jobs, NAME membership, and other resources. Visitors can register to post jobs to the site’s job board, and the job listings are also available in an RSS feed that can be easily pulled into RSS readers or feeds on other sites. Links to NAME’s facebook, LinkedIn and flickr pages are featured prominently on the home page, to promote connections beyond the NAME website.
The site was built using CMS Made Simple, an open source software package that makes websites easy to maintain. No web design knowledge is necessary, and all the site content is editable through the site’s administrative panel. Multiple users can be created to easily allow multiple people to maintain the site, and the content management architecture makes search engine optimization a snap.
