The multitouch panoramic image viewer was built to run on the HP TouchSmart platform. Developed with Vulcan Park and Museum, visitors can navigate the Birmingham skyline and intuitively flip through collections of photographic points of interest.
A high resolution image of the skyline is broken into
fast loading tiles utilizing custom created image tiling software. The interface allows for pinch gesture zooming in and out of a panoramic photograph
we took from the top of the Vulcan Park statue in Birmingham, Alabama.
The multitouch panoramic viewer uses Adobe Flash and is XML driven. Mounted in a custom case and stand, the pair of multitouch-enabled kiosks were placed immediately in front of floor to ceiling windows overlooking the city.
The multitouch panoramic viewer is part of the Birmingham Today gallery space, one of the world's first fully multitouch enabled exhibition spaces.
