Inside the book, two-page spreads include one full-bleed image along with text and smaller images. This page shows fossilized seashells which make up the limestone shelf that help formed the Yucatan Peninsula.

Local artist Patricia Morales painted reproductions of depictions of the Mayan Calendar which appear in the book.

Aerial photographs taken by Jim Spadaccini of Ideum and INAH's Jose Huchim Herrera help show the great cities of ancient Maya.
