A History of Pueblo Resilience

100 Years of State and Federal Policy: The Impact on Pueblo Nations is a new exhibition at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center that coincides with New Mexico’s Centennial celebrations. As part of the exhibition, IPCC needed a way to show primary documents and explanatory materials that relate directly to government policy that impacted the Pueblo nations.

Ideum worked closely with the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center to develop two interactive multiscreen, media exhibits: a touch-enabled widescreen timeline exhibit and a multitouch table-based Collection Viewer that allows visitors to access primary documents and view supplemental materials.

The exhibit consists of a Platform touch table and secondary 55″ LCD HD monitor. Visitors can select, rotate and scale, and view metadata of collection items on the multitouch table. They can also choose to view larger versions of documents or photos or watch associated video clips on the secondary wall-mounted display.

Ideum helped develop both the custom hardware and software for the 100 Years exhibition. The software, including the Collection Viewer itself, is based on open modules that are part of the Open Exhibits software initiative.

The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center produced all of the content for the exhibit. Ideum developed a custom content management application that allows IPCC staff members to easily populate the exhibit with content. All of the content is external to the application and can be updated and revised by IPCC staff.
